Seht euch vor vor den falschen Propheten, die in Schafskleidern zu euch kommen, inwendig aber sind sie reißende Wölfe. An ihren Früchten sollt ihr sie erkennen. Kann man denn Trauben lesen von den Dornen oder Feigen von den Disteln? So bringt jeder gute Baum gute Früchte; aber ein fauler Baum bringt schlechte Früchte. Ein guter Baum kann nicht schlechte Früchte bringen und ein fauler Baum kann nicht gute Früchte bringen. Jeder Baum, der nicht gute Früchte bringt, wird abgehauen und ins Feuer geworfen. Darum: an ihren Früchten sollt ihr sie erkennen. Es werden nicht alle, die zu mir sagen: Herr, Herr! , in das Himmelreich kommen, sondern die den Willen tun meines Vaters im Himmel. Es werden viele zu mir sagen an jenem Tage: Herr, Herr, haben wir nicht in deinem Namen geweissagt? Haben wir nicht in deinem Namen böse Geister ausgetrieben? Haben wir nicht in deinem Namen viele Wunder getan? Dann werde ich ihnen bekennen: Ich habe euch noch nie gekannt; weicht von mir, ihr Übeltäter!

1. Petrus 1,13-17
Darum umgürtet die Lenden eures Gemüts, seid nüchtern und setzt eure Hoffnung ganz auf die Gnade, die euch angeboten wird in der Offenbarung Jesu Christi. Als gehorsame Kinder gebt euch nicht den Begierden hin, denen ihr früher in der Zeit eurer Unwissenheit dientet; sondern wie der, der euch berufen hat, heilig ist, sollt auch ihr heilig sein in eurem ganzen Wandel. Denn es steht geschrieben (3.Mose 19,2): »Ihr sollt heilig sein, denn ich bin heilig. « Und da ihr den als Vater anruft, der ohne Ansehen der Person einen jeden richtet nach seinem Werk, so führt euer Leben, solange ihr hier in der Fremde weilt, in Gottesfurcht; denn ihr wisst, dass ihr nicht mit vergänglichem Silber oder Gold erlöst seid von eurem nichtigen Wandel nach der Väter Weise, sondern mit dem teuren Blut Christi als eines unschuldigen und unbefleckten Lammes.
Was sagt der Geist der Weissagung?
Christ has promised to send us the Comforter, whose work is to establish the kingdom of God in the soul. When such abundant provisions of mercy, grace, and peace have been made, why do human beings act as if they regarded the truth as a yoke of bondage? It is because the heart has never tasted and seen that the Lord is good. The truth of the Word of God is thought by some to be a fetter. But it is the truth that makes men free. If the truth therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. The truth separates man from his sins, from his hereditary and cultivated tendencies to wrongdoing. The soul that cherishes the love of Christ is full of freedom, light, and joy. In such a soul there are no divided thoughts. The whole man yearns after God. He does not go to men to know his duty, but to Christ, the source of all wisdom. He searches the Word of God that he may find out what standard he must reach. {Reflecting Christ 114.4}

Those who are sanctified through the truth will have courage to stand on the side of truth and right, no matter who may scoff or how bitter the opposition they may have to meet. Nor will those who thus serve God lose their reward. "They shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him." {ST, November 26, 1885 par. 13}
Many have taken the position that they cannot sin because they are sanctified, but this is a delusive snare of the evil one. There is constant danger of falling into sin, for Christ has warned us to watch and pray lest we enter into temptation. If we are conscious of the weakness of self, we shall not be self-confident and reckless of danger; but we shall feel the necessity of seeking to the Source of our strength, Jesus our righteousness. We shall come in repentance and contrition, with a despairing sense of our own finite weakness, and learn that we must daily apply to the merits of the blood of Christ, that we may become vessels fit for the Master's use. While thus depending upon God, we shall not be found warring against the truth, but we shall always be enabled to take our stand for the right. We should cling to the teaching of the Bible, and not follow the customs and traditions of the world, the sayings and doings of men. When errors arise and are taught as Bible truth, those who have a connection with Christ will not trust to what the minister says, but, like the noble Bereans, they will search the Scriptures daily to see if these things are so. When they discover what the word of the Lord is, they will take their stand on the side of truth. They will hear the voice of the true Shepherd saying, "This is the way, walk ye in it." Thus you will be educated to make the Bible the man of your counsel, and the voice of a stranger you will neither hear nor follow.

They will make manifest who is their leader by the course they will pursue in opposing the truth of God, and in enforcing error on the conscience by oppressive measures. It is now time to take a decided stand on the side of truth; and as God has given to everyone his measure of influence, he should exert it to the glory of God and for the good of his associates. Not one of the faithful stewards of Christ will be idle in such a time as this, or will be content to live simply for self.
